What, No Duct Tape?

iPhone Atlas has an interesting tip today about boosting your iPhone reception with scotch tape. There are several other suggestions (reset, restore, reseat SIM, dangle USB) which at first blush seem to be voodoo, but could resolve very specific issues that could plague a phone in a good coverage area.

If you’re stuck in the middle of the woods with only a single flaky tower for cell service, though, it seems like your best bet is a cell signal booster with antenna(s). (Antennas, plural, because you’ll need both the PCS and yagi antennas depending on the frequencies used in your area.) But shelling out hundreds of dollars on cellular amplification equipment on top of the thousands of dollars of wireless service seems so very, very wrong.

So, I’ll try the scotch tape too. Every little bit helps when your normal service level is 0-1 bar.

Forget 3G; I just want decent 2G signal in my house!
